Big 10 and Big South Afternoon Update, Evening Preview

The Big 10 and Big South conferences have been playing this afternoon, each conference played 2 games, with 1 result having an impact to our pool.  The most recent version of the standings are now posted, which also include additional finalized seeding from other conferences.

Link to the Standings

Big South

  • In the 1st game of the day, 2 seed Radford squeaked by 10 seed Longwood, so none of us lost anything with that game
  • In the 2nd game of the afternoon 3 seed Winthrop beat 6 seed Gardner-Webb, the only person with Gardner-Webb was Amanda so she is now in last all by herself for right now

Big 10

  • Wisconsin beat Maryland in the 1st game of the afternoon for the Big 10, no impact to our pool
  • In game 2, 12 seed Iowa brought 5 seed Michigan into overtime, but Michigan was able to pull it out in the end; no one in the pool has Iowa, however have 4 people on Michigan that came close to a loss

Below is a preview of the key conference tournament game match ups for tonight that will or may impact our standings, especially when it comes to bonus points.

Missouri Valley
  • We have 2 games tonight and in each game we have the potential for people to suffer a bonus point loss
  • 9 seed Northern Iowa will play 8 seed Evansville, we have 1 person on Northern Iowa and 10 seed Valparaiso will play 7 seed Missouri State, we have 1 person on Missouri State  #ARCHMADNESS

Big South
  • We've got MORE Big South action tonight, for those with the 1 seed UNC-Asheville you will need to sweat out the match up against 8 seed Charleston Southern;  UNC-Asheville is only a 4 point favorite against the 8 seed, so this could be a close one
  • The last Big South game of the night is Liberty vs. Campbell, no one in the pool has either team

Atlantic Sun
  • Tonight will be exciting for the Atlantic Sun as we are all still alive and after tonight we'll know which 2 teams will face off in the finals!
  • In game 1 tonight, North Florida plays Florida Gulf Coast, most of the pool has Florida Gulf Coast, they are also favored by 14 points so I am thinking uneventful game
  • Game 2 is Jacksonville vs. Lipscomb, with Lipscomb being a 11 point favorite, but Jacksonville looked great in the Quarterfinals so I expect this game to be closer (Bet Jacksonville)
  • A least 3 people are taking a loss tonight (Hopefully Amanda does not take her 3rd loss!)

I will post another blog tonight with the results and pool impacts after the games, along with a current version of the standings spreadsheet.

And Robb, stop editing the spreadsheet, I get at least 5 e-mails a day saying you're editing the spreadsheet, cheater.  Either look at it or download it, otherwise when we're in Vegas I am signing you up for Excel 101 with professor Husted in The D conference room.
