This is Not a Good Day for Favorites

We had 11 conference tournaments in play tonight and we saw a ton of top seeded teams lose, everyone except Corey* now has at least 1 loss.  Below is a summary of the games that had the most impact to our pool, and we did have a ton of losses today.

*Corey gets an asterisk because he is still at risk of a loss later tonight when (3) Austin Peay plays Belmont, with the winner going to the Ohio Valley championship game tomorrow night.

In the Big South (2) Radford knocked off (3) Winthrop to move on to the Big South Championship game on Sunday afternoon where they will play (5) Liberty.  Yes, I said Liberty.  I'll do a better preview of this championship game on Sunday morning.

The biggest upset of the night came in the MAAC Quarterfinals as (9) St. Peter's destroyed (1) Rider, the biggest upset in MAAC conference tournament history and knocked out 13 from the pool.  Rider was the favorite in our pool as 38% of us thought they would win the MAAC conference tournament, this now leaves the door open for a possible bonus point winner.

The Big 10 could not escape without a huge upset as (7) Penn State knocked over (2) Ohio State with a last second dunk, although in terms of our pool this only knocked out 2 people, Tim Husted and Chris Iannuzzi, what a pair!  These 2 guys miss the Aaron Kraft days.

In the morning I will post updated standings from a few of the games wrapping up tonight that could impact our pool, and I will also preview our 1st conference tournament championship game taking place on Saturday in the Ohio Valley Conference!  We will have our 1st official ticket punched to the NCAA Tournament Saturday.
